A man from Lviv was sentenced to 11 years behind bars for robbing a female driver on the highway “Kyiv-Chop”

A 31-year-old man from Lviv was found guilty of robbery (Part 4 of Article 186 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) following a public indictment by the prosecutors of the Pustomytov District Prosecutor’s Office.

He was sentenced to 11 years and 3 months of imprisonment with confiscation of all his property.

Prosecutors proved that a group of people attacked and robbed a female driver on the Kyiv-Chop highway.

That day, the convict and his accomplice noticed a woman withdrawing cash from an ATM. Then they had an idea to rob her and they started chasing her.

When the woman got into the car and drove out of town, they continued the pursuit in their car.

On the way, the men cut off the woman’s car, as a result of which she was forced to stop on the side of the road. The victim opened the window to find out the cause of the accident and the attackers took advantage of this. The convict immediately started hitting her on the head with his fists through the window, at that moment his accomplice stole her bag, which contained more than UAH 200,000, from the interior of the car.

After the crime, the perpetrators immediately fled the scene.

The pre-trial investigation was carried out by the investigators of the Police Department No. 1 of the Lviv District Police Department No. 2 of the Main Department of the National Police in the Lviv Region.

The materials related to the accomplice are allocated to a separate criminal proceeding, the pre-trial investigation is ongoing.

The convict is currently serving his sentence.
