Last year, the region received UAH 345 million 484 thousand, and the year before that – UAH 273 million 771 thousand.
Lviv region has been in the lead for two years in a row. The State Agency for Tourism Development of Ukraine has analyzed tax revenues from the tourism industry by region for 2023. As you know, last year Lviv region was the leader in the payment of tourist tax with the amount of UAH 46 million 85 thousand. In the first two months of this year, the amount of tourist tax in the region reached UAH 9 million 629 thousand.
Lviv community paid the largest amount of tourist tax – UAH 5 million 342 thousand 949. The second largest amount was paid by the Truskavets community – UAH 1 million 711 thousand. Skhidnytsia, Zymnovodivka and Slavske communities are also in the top five.
The region’s visitors include domestic tourists, including many military personnel and their families, as well as representatives of international organizations who choose Lviv for business tourism, conferences, and trainings.
“There are opinions that tourism is not a priority during the war, but the figures show a significant potential of this area to fill the budget. I am convinced that the revenues could be higher if hoteliers did not have to compete for tourists with the shadow sector, which negatively affects the development of the hospitality industry,” said Taras Lozynsky, head of the Tourism and Resorts Department of Lviv Regional State Administration.
Also, according to the manager, it is important to pay attention to the targeted use of funds from the tourist tax, which should be directed to the development of tourism infrastructure and similar projects, which will ensure the sustainable growth of our tourism potential.
