An offender involved in the illegal possession of a vehicle faces a penalty of up to five years in prison
On November 6, around 8:00 p.m., hotline 102 received a report from a 32-year-old resident of one of the villages of the Yavoriv district about the theft of his Volkswagen Golf car.
Detectives of the criminal police, crews of the response groups of the patrol police and the investigative-operational group of the Yavoriv district police department were involved in solving the crime and searching for the stolen vehicle.
The law enforcement officers promptly searched for the stolen car in the territory of the forest. The identity of the intruder involved in the illegal possession was also established – he turned out to be a 28-year-old resident of the district.
Investigators of the territorial division of the police, under the procedural guidance of the Yavoriv district prosecutor’s office, informed the intruder of the suspicion of committing a crime, provided for in part 1 of article 289 (Illegal possession of a vehicle) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for punishment – restriction of liberty for a period of three to five years or deprivation of liberty for the same period.
