Arms Dealer Exposed in Lviv Region: Investigation Details

In the Stryi district of the Lviv region, law enforcement officers exposed a 38-year-old local resident who sold an AK-74 rifle, a magazine, a silencer, and more than a thousand rounds of ammunition. He faces up to seven years in prison for this.

Joint Law Enforcement Operation

The offender was exposed by investigators from the Department of Investigation of Particularly Serious Crimes of the Lviv Regional Police, together with operatives from the Security Service of Ukraine in the Lviv Region, under the procedural guidance of the Lviv Specialized Prosecutor’s Office in the Field of Defense of the Western Region.

According to the conclusion of an expert examination conducted at the Research Forensic Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the Lviv Region, the seized rifle is combat-capable firearms.

Criminal Proceedings

The offender has been notified of suspicion of committing a criminal offense under Part 1 of Article 263 (Illegal handling of weapons, ammunition, or explosives) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanctions of the article provide for a penalty of imprisonment for a term of three to seven years.

Pre-trial investigation is ongoing, and law enforcement officers are determining the origin of the weapons and ammunition.
