The traffic accident happened today, June 16, around 8:30 a.m., on the highway “Kyiv – Chop” near the village of Pyatnychany, Stryi district.
As previously determined by the law enforcement officers, there was a collision between a BMW 530 driven by a 24-year-old resident of the Stryi district and a Mercedes Sprinter 519 driven by a 55-year-old resident of Chernivtsi, as a result of which the BMW overturned and collided with another car. “Mercedes Sprinter 316” driven by a 41-year-old man from Strynia.
As a result of the accident, the BMW driver died at the scene from his injuries. His passenger, whose details are being established, was taken to the hospital with injuries. In addition, a passenger in one of the Mercedes was injured, a 50-year-old resident of Chernivtsi, who was hospitalized. The diagnoses of the victims are being clarified.
Investigators of the territorial division of the police, as well as employees of other police services of the Lviv region, are currently working at the scene.
The question of the legal qualification of the event is being resolved.
