Zhytomyr region resident gives law enforcement officer USD 700 bribe for resolving issue of closing criminal proceedings
Under the procedural supervision of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, a 52-year-old native of Zhytomyr region was served a notice of suspicion. He is charged with offering and giving an official an unlawful benefit (Part 3 Article 369 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
According to the investigation, the suspect provided an unlawful benefit to the head of the investigation department of one of the police departments in Lviv region.
In return for this money, the man wanted to close another criminal proceeding opened against his son. He also wanted to return the seized vehicle.
He valued the service at USD 700.
The suspect was detained in accordance with Art. 208 of the CPC of Ukraine while giving the bribe.
A custody with the right to be released on bail was chosen as a measure of restraint.
The investigation is ongoing.
The pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings is carried out by investigators of the Main Department of the National Police of the region, operational support is provided by the Lviv Department of the Internal Security Department of the National Police of Ukraine.
Note: In accordance with Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and shall not be subjected to criminal punishment until his or her guilt is proved by law and established by a court verdict of guilty.
