The police of Lviv Oblast warns of responsibility for false calls to special services

For the specified offense in Ukraine, administrative responsibility is provided – the imposition of a fine from fifty to two hundred non-taxable minimum incomes of citizens (from 850 to 3400 hryvnias).

Mostly false calls relate to facts of domestic violence – citizens call the emergency line 102, report that their relative commits a conflict, or even a fight, and when law enforcement officers arrive at the scene, they declare that the conflict is over, refuse to write a statement against the offender, or they generally report that nothing of the sort happened.

Sometimes complaints are received about violations of public order, silence, rules for staying in public places (drinking alcoholic beverages, swearing, etc.), etc. When the police arrive at the scene, the applicants retract their statements.

There are even cases when citizens report thefts, robberies and even murders, which are not confirmed later.

Quite often, the “applicants” are intoxicated at this time, which, of course, does not exempt them from responsibility for the offense committed.

Thus, Article 183 (Knownly false call of special services) of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses states: knowingly false call of a fire and rescue unit (unit), police, emergency (ambulance) medical aid brigade or other emergency and rescue formations – entails imposition fine from fifty to two hundred tax-free minimum incomes of citizens (from 850 to 3400 hryvnias).

Police and special services workers waste time going to a false call, even though at that moment someone may really need their help.

Law enforcement officers urge citizens – before reporting such cases to the hotline, make sure of their authenticity.
