Under the procedural leadership of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, a corruption scheme for issuing permit documentation for real estate objects was exposed. The deputy head of one of the institutes of the Lviv State University of Life Safety was informed of the suspicion of soliciting and receiving an unlawful benefit (Part 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
According to the investigation, the colonel of the civil protection service demanded an illegal benefit in the amount of UAH 30,000 from the representative of the business entity for ensuring the issuance of fire safety permit documentation.
In case of refusal to give him a bribe, the employee promised to issue a negative opinion, which actually made it impossible to carry out business activities in these premises.
It is documented that the receipt of the unlawful benefit took place in two tranches. He received the first part in the amount of UAH 15,000 personally, and he sent a cadet for the second part. The employee instructed the latter to go to the checkpoint of the university and collect money for him. The pupil of the educational institution was not aware of the criminal activity of the person involved, and did not know that he was taking a bribe for him.
The suspect was detained in accordance with Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine, after receiving the second part of the unlawful benefit.
The issue of selecting a preventive measure for the detainee and removing him from his post is being resolved.
Investigations are ongoing, other involved persons are being identified.
The pre-trial investigation is carried out by the investigators of the Main Department of the National Police in Lviv region, operational support is provided by the USR in Lviv region of the SSR of the NP of Ukraine.
Note: in accordance with Art. 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until his guilt is proven in a legal manner and established by a court verdict.
