At the border checkpoints “Hrushiv” and “Krakivets,” officers of the Carpathian Border Guard Unit identified three couples posing as married.
In “Hrushiv,” two such fake pairs were detected. The first pair involved a 43-year-old man from the Cherkasy region who had married a 53-year-old woman from the same area. They claimed they were traveling to Warsaw to visit the man’s friend.
The second pair stated they were heading to Poland to meet the man’s mother’s sister. However, during the inspection, the man failed to provide basic information about his “wife,” including their shared address. This pair, a 40-year-old woman and a 24-year-old man from Cherkasy, left the checkpoint accompanied by police.
Another fake couple was identified at “Krakivets.” A 47-year-old man and a 63-year-old woman claimed they were traveling to the United Kingdom to visit friends.
The true motives behind these sham marriages are under investigation by law enforcement. Border guards have reported the incidents to the police under the criminal offense of illegal transportation of individuals across Ukraine’s state border.
