The Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office found two citizens of Ukraine guilty of a public accusation. They were convicted of treason, participation in a terrorist organization and activities of armed formations not provided for by law (parts 1, 2 of article 111, part 1 of article 258-3, part 2 of article 260 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
Each of the men was sentenced to 15 years in prison with confiscation of all property.
Prosecutors proved in court that residents of Donetsk region voluntarily went over to the side of the enemy and joined the illegal armed formation of the “people’s militia” of the terrorist organization “DNR”.
The accused were enrolled in the military unit 08805 and the Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade “Slovyanska”, which are part of and subordinate to the 1st Army Corps of the Russian Federation.
The men performed various tasks related to the conduct of hostilities against the Armed Forces of Ukraine. It is known that one of them holds the position of commander of a reconnaissance platoon and took part in the seizure of the building of the 2nd Directorate of the State Security Service of Ukraine in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions (located in the city of Mariupol).
A special pre-trial investigation in criminal proceedings was carried out by the Office of the Security Service of Ukraine in the Lviv Region.
