Following a public prosecution by prosecutors of the Drohobych District Prosecutor’s Office, a 58-year-old man was found guilty of premeditated murder (Part 1 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
He was sentenced to 7 years and 6 months in prison.
The prosecutor proved in court that in January this year in Drohobych, the accused killed his partner.
That evening, the man and woman were drinking alcohol together in their apartment. During the meal, a conflict arose between them, during which the defendant picked up a kitchen knife and stabbed the 65-year-old victim several times in the neck and chest. The victim died on the spot from her injuries.
After the crime, the man went to bed. Only the next day he called and told his son about the murder, who called the police and an ambulance.
The accused will be kept in custody until the verdict enters into force. The pre-trial investigation is being carried out by investigators of the Drohobych District Police Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Lviv Region.
The court’s verdict comes into force after the expiry of the appeal period.
