It was established that the deputy director of one of the Lviv scientific research institutes demanded and received an illegal benefit from the entrepreneur in the amount of 31.5 thousand hryvnias for providing him with the use of a warehouse with an area of 371 square meters, located in the institute’s building, before signing the lease agreement.
The perpetrator was exposed by investigators of the Department of Investigation of Economic and Service Crimes of the Investigative Department of the Lviv Oblast Police, together with operatives of the Strategic Investigations Office in Lviv Oblast, under the procedural guidance of the Lviv Oblast Prosecutor’s Office.
On April 16, law enforcement officers detained the official in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine after receiving an illegal benefit.
The investigators informed the detainee of the suspicion of committing a criminal offense provided for in Part 3 of Article 368 (Acceptance of an offer, promise or receipt of undue benefit by an official) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for punishment – deprivation of liberty for a period of five to ten years with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for a period of up to three years, with confiscation of property.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
