Prosecutors of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office have sent to court an indictment against a 26-year-old and a 56-year-old resident of Zaporizhzhia on the fact of illegal acquisition, storage and sale of firearms, ammunition, explosives without a permit stipulated by law, committed by a group of persons (Part 2 of Article 28 – Part 1 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
According to the investigation, in Zaporizzhya, a father and son illegally purchased, stored in their own home and then sold firearms, ammunition, explosive devices and explosives.
It is documented that in December last year, the defendants sold two Kalashnikov assault rifles and ammunition in the amount of 1080 rounds of ammunition for Kalashnikov assault rifles and machine guns to a local resident for USD 1900.
Later, for USD 700, they sold offensive and defensive fragmentation hand grenades.
The defendants divided the proceeds among themselves.
In addition, for a monetary reward, by prior conspiracy, they purchased, stored and sold hand grenades, cases and fuses for them, various types of firearms and ammunition.
During an authorised search of the defendants’ residences, firearms, ammunition, explosive devices and explosives were found and seized.
The pre-trial investigation was carried out by investigators of the Main Department of the National Police in Lviv region, with operational support provided by the State Secret Service of Ukraine’s Internal Affairs Department in Lviv region.
Note: In accordance with Art. 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and shall not be subjected to criminal punishment until his or her guilt is proved by law and established by a court verdict of guilty.
