The day before, the head of the Lviv Regional Military Administration Maksym Kozytskyi visited the Main Railway Station of Lviv. In particular, the head of the administration monitored the well-established processes between government officials and volunteer organizations.
“Lviv region has become one big refuge, which gives people from other regions the opportunity to feel safe again. Thanks to those who are not indifferent, we managed to create a coordinated aid movement at the Lviv Main Railway Station. Thank you to all those who, despite working or studying, find time to volunteer. I know that people work here for 12 hours. Your contribution is very valuable. For our part, we coordinate these processes: we help transport, find housing, provide clothing and hot food to all who come to us. When people have adapted, they can apply to our employment centers and help them find a job, “said Maksym Kozytsky.
Volunteers are cooperating at the station within the project “Hear the Doctor” together with the Crisis Medical Center of Lviv, which provide psychological and medical assistance to internally displaced persons. The project coordinator is Halyna Bordun, an advisor to the head of the Lviv OVA.
“The medical and psychological care center is open 24 hours a day. We now have over 500 volunteers on our team. We have formed groups that work for half a day. In total, more than half a hundred people in each shift. The demand for help is quite large, so we need more volunteers, “said Halyna Bordun.
Volunteers at the station can be recognized by the presence of bright vests and badges with the words “Medical and psychological care. Volunteer”. Doctors work in tents near the heating station. Tents from the SES and some international humanitarian organizations have also been set up near the station.
