On June 16, a working meeting was held on the creation of virtual tourist tours at the initiative of the Tourism and Resorts Department of Lviv Oblast, as well as the Virtual Ukraine organization. Among the participants of the meeting were, in particular, representatives of territorial communities responsible for tourism, heads of administrations of national nature parks, regional landscape parks, recreational facilities, museum institutions, and tourism businesses.
Taras Lozynskyi, head of the Lviv Tourism and Resorts Department, thanked everyone who joined for their activity and in his welcoming speech noted how important it is to be present in the digital space.
“Our goal is to digitize as many tourist sites as possible in order to have a comprehensive map with virtual tours of Lviv region. First of all, this is a promotion, an opportunity to familiarize a potential tourist or tour operator with the tourist resources of the region in order to remotely plan a tour,” shared Taras Lozynskyi.
The head of the administration also added that virtual tours can be used as VR therapy for people with disabilities and limited mobility.
Dmytro Malyshev, the founder of Virtual Ukraine, presented the products created by the organization. In particular, their portfolio includes a complete virtual tour of the world’s largest AN-225 MRIA aircraft, filmed in 2016. Virtual Ukraine has already created virtual tours for more than a dozen regions of Ukraine. It is important that the team not only creates a tourist product, but also integrates it with Google maps, as well as places it on its own web resource.
