35-year-old Andriy Zakaliuk became the new head of the education department of the Lviv City Council. Today he was presented to the management team.
“It is not an easy path, but Andriy Zakaliuk does not look for easy ways. At the age of 27, he agreed to become the director of a boarding school from a simple history teacher. And in three years I turned it into a school where half of my friends’ children wanted to study. Lviv education received a leader from its environment. Andriy is highly respected among teachers, so I am glad that he agreed to head the Department of Education at such a crucial time,” said Andriy Sadovyi, the mayor of Lviv.
While still a history teacher in 2012, Andriy Zakaliuk refused to teach children according to the “Tabachnik” version of the school history of Ukraine and wrote his own manual for the fifth grade. And at the age of 27, he became the youngest director of boarding school No. 2. In three years, he became a real father for the children at the institution. In 2017, the children thanked Andriy for his love and fulfilled his dream with the help of the television show of one of the central channels “Surprise, surprise”.
During the years of Andriy Zakaluk’s work as the director of various schools in Lviv, he implemented many reforms to improve them: a friendly, motivational approach to students, a new format of “First bells” and graduations, improvement of school conditions at the expense of Public Budget projects, etc.
