The relevant decision was adopted by the session of the Lviv Regional Council.
Deputies of the Lviv Regional Council voted to change the type and name of communal facilities of the ENT “Vynnykivsk general educational sanatorium school of I-III degrees” and “Lviv general educational sanatorium school No. 1 of I-III degrees named after B.-I. Antonych” to scientific lyceums: “Vynnykivskyi Scientific Lyceum” and “Lviv Scientific Lyceum No. 1 named after B.-I. Antonych”.
The Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine previously approved the change in the type and name of sanatorium schools.
Two regional sanatorium schools will be gradually reformed – regional council deputies have determined a five-year transitional period until 2027. During this time, at the Vinnytsia Scientific Lyceum and the Lviv Scientific Lyceum No. 1 named after B.-I. Sanatorium-type classes and a scientific lyceum will function in Antonych.
As Oleg Paska, director of the Department of Education and Science of the Lviv Regional State University, said, over the next five years (until 2027), students of sanatorium schools will gradually be transferred to general secondary education institutions at their place of residence, and students who will receive a specialized education will study in scientific lyceums. Employees of sanatorium schools, including medical personnel, who are involved in these institutions, continue to work.
Oleg Paska also added that three profiles are planned to be introduced at the Lviv Scientific Lyceum No. 1: biological, chemical, physical, and four at the Vinnytsia Lyceum: sports, information technology, robotics, and communication technologies.
Two more sanatorium schools are currently operating in Lviv Oblast – in Boryslav and Sokal, and they are not currently being reformed.
We will remind you that back in January 2022, the then Vinnytsia and Lviv sanatorium schools signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with the Lviv Polytechnic National University and the Lviv Polytechnic Science Park, which provides for:
joint development by the participants of the memorandum of educational programs for lyceum students, which will include a scientific component, specialization and conducting applied and empirical research by students;
coordination of activities related to determining the priorities of the educational process in lyceums;
organization, counseling of students of schools participating in the memorandum on writing research projects
conducting joint events, etc.
The reorganization takes place with the aim of improving the quality of educational services, in accordance with the Laws of Ukraine “On Education”, “On Comprehensive General Secondary Education”, Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated May 22, 2019 No. 438 “On Approval of the Regulations on the Scientific Lyceum”. In the Lviv region, a network of 100 lyceums is being created within the framework of the reform of comprehensive general secondary education, the implementation of which should take place by 2027.
The relevant order was signed by the head of the regional military administration Maksym Kozytskyi in August of this year.
So, in Lviv Oblast, the network will consist of 100 lyceums:
14 lyceums – III level;
15 lyceums – II-III levels;
68 lyceums – I-III levels;
3 lyceums – under regional control.
When determining the schools that will be granted the status of lyceums, special attention is paid to their place in the rating based on the results of the external examination.
