The development of the professional and technical community of the Lviv region is one of the priorities of the Lviv OVA for 2023

In Lviv OVA, a hearing was held regarding the needs of regional institutions of professional and technical education, the results of their work for the current year and plans for 2023.

The hearing took place under the chairmanship of the profile deputy head of the Lviv OVA, Ivan Sobko, with the participation of the heads of 32 regional VET institutions.

The formation of the indicators of the project of the regional budget and regional programs for 2023 is being completed in the Lviv OVA. At the same time, on November 1, the admissions campaign to vocational education institutes ended in the Lviv region, so the contingent of educational institutions, financial performance indicators and current needs were discussed at the hearing. The director of the Department of Education and Science of LOVA Oleg Paska, the director of the Department of Economic Policy of LOVA Stepan Kuybida, the head of the Department of Vocational Technical Education Development of the Department of Education and Science of LOVA Ivan Pykus, the head of the Department of Finance of Education and Culture of the Department of Finance of the Lviv OVA Oksana Ilechko took part in the hearing.

“Almost 10 institutions of vocational technical education in the region need a new lease of life. They either have a weak contingent, or they do not have the proper material and technical base. This indicates that the head of the institution and the labor team do not ensure its effective work, do not pay due attention to career guidance work. In some cases, institutions have outdated professions that need to be modernized or new ones introduced.

The main task of managers is the availability of the appropriate number of students in the institution and the opportunity for them to acquire the skills necessary for working professions. As now, so in the post-war period, working professions will be extremely in demand.

During the meeting, we analyzed the work of each institution in detail, worked out the most necessary needs and the possibilities of solving them in the 2023 budget, because the development of vocational education is one of the priorities for the head of the Lviv OVA in the next year,” Ivan Sobko said.

He also said that by the end of this year, they plan to open three educational and practical centers in Lviv Region, for which UAH 9 million have been allocated from the regional budget. The plans also include the opening of an educational and practical center for alternative energy, where pupils and students will be able to acquire a new specialty as an electrician for the maintenance of solar panels. During the hearing, they also discussed the importance of cooperation between vocational and technical institutes and business, which will allow graduates of VET institutions to find work, and enterprises to provide competent specialists.

This year, in seven institutions, the level of the contingent exceeded the mark of 400 students, which in the future creates the possibility of opening an educational and practical center in the institution. Compared to last year, there are 1,000 more students studying in vocational education institutions in the Lviv Region.

It is also worth noting that within the framework of the Program for the Implementation of Priority Infrastructure Projects in the Lviv Region, repairs are underway in 17 dormitories of vocational and technical institutes, for which more than 100 million hryvnias are provided in the regional budget.

It should be noted that there are 49 institutions of vocational education and training in Lviv region (39 regional, 17 in Lviv), where 21,544 students study. Professional training is carried out in more than 100 labor professions and 10 specialties at the “junior bachelor” educational qualification level. This year, 8,813 people entered vocational training institutions of the region (about 300 of them from the number of IDPs). In terms of the number of VET institutions, Lviv Oblast is the second in Ukraine. In addition, Lviv region has the largest number of educational and practical centers at VET institutions, namely 40 vocational training centers.
