On Tuesday, May 30, at 12:00 p.m., the appellate commercial court will decide whether it is possible to use “black registrars” to take away a plot of land in the city center from communities. In this way, Lviv residents want to be robbed of 500 million hryvnias, Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi said today.
“We are talking about the territory near the Opera House, where until recently there was the Dobrobut market, as well as a large amount of real estate in the central part of the city,” the mayor’s message says.
Therefore, the mayor of Lviv, Andriy Sadovy, will personally come to court together with his deputies and all members of the executive committee of the Lviv City Council. “This is a really important matter! I ask for maximum publicity! Journalists and Lviv residents, we must stand up for justice!”, Andriy Sadovy noted.
The city is now planning to return the site to communal ownership to recreate the historic public space with updated architecture.
We will remind, 30 years ago, on the territory of the current “Dobrobut” market, they planned to build a 5-story hotel “Golden Lion” with a parking lot. The company promised funds and equipment, and the Lviv City Council promised to allocate a plot of land behind the Opera House and demolish 3 buildings that hindered the implementation of the project. The city fulfilled its part of the obligations. The developer had just built the foundation, on which in 1997 the Dobrobut temporary market was set up, which was supposed to operate until the investor resumed construction of the hotel. But the trade dragged on for a quarter of a century.
