On March 11, nine volunteers from Germany, the cities of Dessau-Rosslau and Dresden visited the Sokal City Council. This is not the first time they have brought humanitarian aid to the needy to the Caritas-Sokal Foundation. Since the first days of the war, volunteers from the public organization “Help to Ukraine” have been actively helping the Ukrainian military and internally displaced persons.
This was reported in the Sokal City Council.
This aid is quite significant: several truckloads of hygiene products, food, and clothing were delivered from Germany to Sokal and distributed to IDPs and military personnel.
The Mayor of Sokal, Serhiy Kasyan, thanked the volunteers for their selfless work, because volunteers, despite their main work, still manage to collect humanitarian aid and travel thousands of kilometers to deliver it to those in need. We are glad that we have reliable friends – Poles, Germans, and the British, who help Ukrainians during the difficult times of the war.
The head of the Chervonograd military administration Andriy Dyachenko and the manager of the Caritas Charitable Fund-Sokal Maryana Yaremchuk also thanked the volunteers and emphasized the importance of further international cooperation.
The guests from Germany were pleasantly surprised by the patriotic pictures drawn by students of the Victor Matyuk Art School in Sokal. The director of the school, Oksana Dumanska, briefly spoke about the drawn pictures, what each of them symbolizes. These student works were transferred to Germany, where the volunteers plan to organize a charity exhibition of Ukrainian schoolchildren’s drawings.
🇺🇦🇩🇪At the end of the meeting, Mayor Serhiy Kasyan handed the coordinator from the city of Dessau-Rosslau an intention to cooperate, and the volunteers – thanks from the Sokal City Council for the humanitarian aid provided and their contribution to the victory of Ukraine. In the future, we expect the signing of an agreement between Sokal and Dessau-Rosslau and the implementation of joint international projects.
