Today, June 5, cashless payment was launched on three bus routes in Lviv. Therefore, passengers of buses No. 1А, 3А and 10 will be able to choose a convenient way of paying for their fare: either with a bank card or phone with NFC, or as usual – in cash.
At the testing stage, the fare for travel remains at the level of UAH 15 – for all payment methods. The system will be tested for approximately one month – until June 30. After that, cashless payment will be introduced on other routes as well. Controllers will work on the lines during the testing period. At this stage, they will not fine passengers, but will conduct explanatory work. This was announced today during the briefing.
Therefore, in order to make a cashless payment, the passenger needs to attach a bank card or a device with ApplePay\GooglePay support to the validator and wait for a single sound signal and a green mark on the validator. The bank card must be chipped.
Important: information about debiting funds for the trip may not come immediately, but within 1-2 days. Because the electronic ticket system is built on the basis of delayed authorization for the speed of boarding the transport. “Accordingly, withdrawal of funds takes place depending on the rules of the payment system, bank, etc. In addition, debiting may occur after replenishment of the account in the event that there were insufficient funds in the passenger’s account at the required time. If you saw a green tick and a single sound signal – do not worry, the money will be debited from your account later, and the controller checks the fact of validation in this vehicle”, – explained LKP “Lvivavtodor”.
To monitor non-cash payments, Lvivavtodor LKP inspectors use portable reading devices. To this terminal, the passenger must attach the means that were used to pay the fare.
If the passenger accidentally validates the card again within the limits of the final stops, this will not lead to the collection of additional funds. During the first validation, the text “Login registered” is displayed on the screen of the validator. And upon re-validation – “Login is already registered”.
You can pay the driver in cash only when the vehicle is stopped. All cash is accounted for and displayed in the automated fare payment system.
Accordingly, the driver must issue a one-time paper ticket to the passenger. Such a ticket does not require validation. Through the QR code on the ticket, the controller performs a check. The ticket must be kept for the entire trip, it can be issued for one or more passengers.
All passengers of preferential categories who have personalized LeoKart cards must validate their journey by entering the vehicle. A discount card that was not validated upon entry does not entitle you to free travel.
“Testing and transition to cashless payment is a new stage in the work of city transport. Here there is the responsibility of both the passenger, the controller, and the driver. In order for the system to work flawlessly, passengers must be aware: they must be validated, and controllers and drivers must perform their work efficiently.
This stage is very important: we have to see how the system works, how the validation takes place, how the drivers work. And, if there are any shortcomings, we will promptly eliminate them before the full launch.
It is important that even when paying the driver, cash is also accounted for and displayed in the ASOP system,” said Iryna Marunyak, deputy mayor for housing and communal services.
As the director of the department of urban mobility and street infrastructure Oleg Zabarilo explained, before introducing cashless payment on all bus routes, it is important to test the flow of funds. After all, the preservation of personal data of passengers and the security of financial transactions are extremely important.
“Now we do not include additional payment services that are provided for in the project. We are launching the simplest form of cashless payment. During this month, it is important for us to understand to what extent this entire operation is carried out, to what extent drivers, controllers, passengers can qualitatively accompany this process.
As soon as we complete all the testing and see that the operations are carried out efficiently, quickly and safely, we will introduce cashless payment in all city transport. Previously, we planned to do it during this summer,” Oleg Zabarylo said.
During the entire test period of cashless fare payment, Lvivavtodor LCP control will operate on routes Nos. 1A, 3A and 10. During the testing period, controllers will NOT issue a penalty ticket to a passenger, but will only carry out educational activities. “Every day on each of these routes, groups of controllers will work from morning to evening. Now they will help people check in, buy a ticket from the driver or pay by card. At this stage, we have to teach all passengers to use validators, so that they feel comfortable in the transport”, – said the head of the “Lvivavtodor” LKP Mykola Vlasyuk.
