Lawyer in Lviv Demanded $7,500 for Assistance in Crossing the Border: Investigation Ongoing

At the direction of the head of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, prosecutors from the Stryi District Prosecutor’s Office have notified a Lviv-based lawyer of suspicion. She is accused of facilitating illegal border crossings and demanding unlawful benefits for influencing decisions made by state officials, actions classified under Article 332 (Part 3) and Article 369-2 (Part 3) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

Scheme for Crossing the Border

According to the investigation, the lawyer promised her client, a military reservist, assistance in bypassing border restrictions. She claimed to have influence over an official in a state energy company and proposed the following plan:

  1. Employing the client at the company.
  2. Securing a reservation for him at the enterprise.
  3. Issuing a business trip abroad, enabling legal departure from Ukraine.

The cost of this “service” was set at $7,500.

Investigation Progress

Prosecutors have submitted a petition to the court to impose pre-trial restrictions on the suspect. Meanwhile, investigative actions are ongoing to identify all parties involved in the scheme.

The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by investigators of the Stryi District Police Department, with operational support from the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) in the Lviv region.

Under Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, an individual is presumed innocent until proven guilty by a court and confirmed by a guilty verdict.
