A resident of Horodok, accused of fraud, will be tried in Lviv Oblast

The criminal extorted money in the amount of 16 thousand hryvnias from a resident of the Kharkiv region. For what she committed, she faces a penalty of up to three years of imprisonment.

As the investigators of the Police Department No. 1 of the Lviv District Police Department No. 2 established, in March 2023, the perpetrator, a 23-year-old resident of the city of Horodok, with the intention of taking possession of other people’s funds, offered the victim, a 33-year-old resident of the Kharkiv region, the job of collection and further sale ballpoint pens.

As the “employer” explained, in order to receive the component parts of the pens, the victim had to transfer money to her bank card in the amount of 16 thousand hryvnias, after which she allegedly had to send the order to the “client” by mail.

A resident of Kharkiv Region transferred the money, but she never received the package. Realizing that she had become a victim of fraud, she turned to the police for help. The perpetrator, having received the money transfer, spent the victim’s money on her own needs.

The pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings opened under Part 1 of Article 190 (Fraud) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine has been completed. The indictment is referred to the court.

The sanction of the article provides for punishment – a fine of two thousand to three thousand non-taxable minimum incomes of citizens or community service for a period of two hundred to two hundred and forty hours, or correctional work for a period of up to two years, or restriction of freedom for a period of up to three years.
