Car collision in Lviv region – one of the drivers was driving while intoxicated, investigation underway
The accident happened at 17.10 on the Kyiv-Chop motorway in Zolochiv district.
According to law enforcement officers, a Lada Samara driven by a 38-year-old resident of Brody and a Volvo driven by a 21-year-old resident of Lviv collided. As a result of the collision, the driver and passenger of the Lada, aged 44, and the driver and 20-year-old passenger of the Volvo sought medical assistance.
It was also established that the driver of the Lada was driving the vehicle in a state of intoxication.
Investigators of the Police Department No. 1 of the Zolochiv District Police Department opened criminal proceedings over the incident under Part 1 of Article 286-1 (Violation of the rules of road safety or operation of transport by persons driving vehicles while intoxicated) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for imprisonment for up to three years with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for a term of three to five years.
Pre-trial investigation is underway, law enforcement officers are establishing the circumstances of the incident.
