Lviv region: Police detain offender who stabbed friend with a knife
The conflict between the men arose suddenly while drinking alcohol. The detainee faces up to eight years in prison for his crime.
As established by criminal police operatives together with investigators of the Sambir District Police Department, on 9 October, in the district centre, a conflict arose between two men aged 51 and 46, during which the older man stabbed the younger one in the stomach. Subsequently, doctors diagnosed the victim with a “penetrating stab wound of the anterior abdominal wall with liver damage”.
At the scene, law enforcement officers seized material evidence – a folding knife. The attacker was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
Investigators of the territorial police unit served him a notice of suspicion of committing a crime under Part 1 of Article 121 (intentional grievous bodily harm) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The article provides for a sentence of imprisonment for a term of five to eight years.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, and the court will soon choose a measure of restraint against the suspect.
