Since the beginning of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, orphans, children from special institutions and boarding schools have been actively evacuated. Some groups go abroad through the Lviv region.
“We have information that some children from Ukraine who have gone abroad have been granted refugee status. This is unacceptable, because the child may have official representatives, parents, but due to circumstances she was forced to seek shelter elsewhere. It is our duty for every child to return to Ukraine, ”said Volodymyr Lys, Head of the Children’s Service.
The evacuation of unaccompanied children has increased in the last few days. In the last two days alone, 6 such children have been registered in the Lviv region. So, if you notice a minor child, please contact the Children’s Service or the Police at 102.
Organized groups continue to bring children aged 0 to 17 to the region. In the coming days, Germany will accept almost 40 children from a specialized orphanage who need palliative care.
A group of infants from Severodonetsk under the age of 4 was also evacuated to the region. Now Lviv region is ready to accept about a thousand more children.
Volodymyr Lys also said that there is no simplified system of adoption of children coming from different regions. The couple can only temporarily take care of the child. Remember, if a child arrives unaccompanied by an adult, it does not mean that he or she is an orphan. We all understand that not all parents have the opportunity to leave their region during the war.
