Varicose veins in childhood are no longer considered rare, especially among teenagers. The factors that contribute to the development of this disease in children are similar to those found in adults. In particular, the risk of developing varicose veins increases in children who are actively involved in physical activities, such as gym workouts or strength training. Also, some malformations and syndromes, including Klippel-Trenaunay Syndrome, can contribute to the development of varicose veins.
The importance of timely medical attention cannot be underestimated. At the Children’s Center of Lviv, located at Lysenko Street, 31, specialists closely monitor the health of children with varicose veins and provide necessary treatment, including EVLT – endovenous laser coagulation and, if needed, minimally invasive procedures.
