Lviv Will Pay Last Respects to the Heroes: Farewell to Levko Kmit and Maryan Luchkyv

On Wednesday, January 29, Lviv will honor the memory of two brave soldiers, Levko Kmit and Maryan Luchkyv, who sacrificed their lives for the freedom of Ukraine. The city council invites the community to join the official farewell ceremony and to refrain from holding entertainments and celebrations. The requiem for the fallen heroes will begin at 11:00 at the Garrison Church of Saints Peter and Paul, followed by a city ceremony at Rynok Square at 11:30. The final farewell will take place at Lychakiv Cemetery.

Levko Kmit, known by the call sign “Elf,” was born in Lviv to a family whose contribution to the patriotic upbringing of generations was crucial, thanks to their experience in Stalinist camps. He received his education at the Lviv College of Food Technologies and began his career as a machine embroidery operator. His life and spirit were not indifferent to the country, especially his participation in the Revolution of Dignity and subsequent service in the army exemplify deep patriotism.

Maryan Luchkyv, having joined the defense of the state from aggression, was an example of courage and dedication. After graduating from the “Commercial Activity” faculty at Lviv Polytechnic, he worked for the “Nova Poshta” company before becoming a serviceman in the naval infantry. Living a life full of true values, Maryan always found time for his children, engaged in exciting modern technologies, and was active in his hometown of Lviv.
