Lviv will say goodbye to defender Andriy Ivanonko tomorrow

On Monday, 12 February, Lviv will say goodbye to soldier Andriy Ivanonko, who was killed in action against Russian occupiers while defending Ukraine. Lviv City Hall calls on Lviv residents and guests to join the city’s farewell ceremony and refrain from holding entertainment events and celebrations during this time.

The farewell to the soldier will begin with a prayer at 10:30 a.m. in St. Andrew’s Church, then at 11:00 a.m. in the Garrison Church of the Apostles Peter and Paul. Peter and Paul Garrison Church, the funeral service will be held at 11:00. Around 11:30, a city farewell ceremony will take place on Rynok Square. The soldier will be buried at Lychakiv Cemetery.

The defender’s biographical information

Andriy Ivanonko (10.06.1976-05.02.2024) was a resident of Lviv.

He studied at the secondary school №49 in Lviv.

He graduated from the former Lviv College of Housing and Communal Services. During his studies, he did military service in Cherkasy in the ranks of the border guards.

After graduation, he first worked in trade, then at Metaloplastik Limited Liability Company. Most recently, he worked at LTP Ukraine LLC. According to his family, Andriy Ivanonko was a “jack of all trades,” an energetic, proactive and deeply religious man.

With the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, he stood up to defend his homeland from the Russian occupiers. He performed combat missions as a member of the 117th separate mechanised brigade of the 10th Army Corps of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, first in Poltava and Kyiv regions, and recently in the southern direction.

The Hero is survived by his mother.
