Yesterday, the State Assembly upheld the January decision of the State Senate and voted in favor of a resolution to establish sister city relations with Lviv Oblast.
69 out of 80 members of the House cast their votes in favor.
This decision paves the way for mutually beneficial cooperation between Lviv and California in the fields of economy, education, science and culture.
I am grateful to the members of both houses of the California legislature who voted in favor of the resolution. Special tribute to its author, Senator Bill Dodd, and to Ukrainians in the United States, including those from Lviv region, who worked very hard at all levels to make this decision a reality.
Lviv region is the second region in Ukraine to start cooperation with the US state. The first was Kyiv region in March, which established sister city relations with Washington state.
