Drohobych doctors saved the life of a patient with a severe case of myocardial infarction

The spring season exacerbates a number of diseases and once again reminds patients that they should diagnose their bodies in time and seek medical help.

These days, at the Drohobych City Hospital No. 1, doctors worked together to save a patient with an acute myocardial infarction.

According to the head of Drohobych City Hospital No. 1, Andriy Kotsiuba, the patient was an elderly man, Mr. Mykola, a resident of Boryslav who had never complained of heart problems before, felt unbearable pain behind his sternum and called an ambulance.

Fortunately, the emergency medical workers confirmed the dangerous diagnosis of myocardial infarction in time and took him to the first city hospital in Drohobych.

Upon hospitalization, the patient was diagnosed with clinical death and cardiac arrest was documented. Immediately, cardiopulmonary resuscitation was initiated in the emergency department. Then the patient was transferred to artificial lung ventilation (ALV) and sent to the Department of Interventional Cardiology and Reperfusion Therapy (head of the department Vasyl Romaniak).

Thanks to the coordinated work of the team of medical professionals at all stages of the patient’s rescue, they managed to cope with all the challenges in a timely manner and performed percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). Today, the patient is feeling well and thanks the medical staff for saving his life.

Thus, the modern equipment of the First City Hospital and the coordinated work of professionals make it possible to perform PCI in a timely manner and save the most valuable thing – patients’ lives.
