Ukrainian diaspora in Ireland donates a multifunctional operating table to Sheptytsky hospital

The Ukrainian diaspora in Ireland donated a multifunctional operating table and five patient physiological monitors to the Chervonohrad City Hospital.

The equipment is worth approximately €23,000 and was donated by Ukrainians who have been living in Ireland for a long time and have organised themselves into the Association of Ukrainians in the Republic of Ireland, said Andriy Dyachenko, head of the Chervonograd District State Administration. The charitable initiative of the Ukrainian diaspora was supported by the Department of Health of Ireland.

According to Volodymyr Kurchaba, head of the operating department, the advantages of this operating table are that it is automatically controlled and its working surface is X-ray transparent, which means that if necessary, the patient can be examined with an X-ray machine directly during surgery. In addition, the operating table is equipped with a battery with an automatic charger, which means that it can be used during power outages.

Patient physiomonitors are diagnostic medical equipment that continuously monitor the main indicators of patients’ vital signs, said Volodymyr Kurchaba. At present, four out of the five monitors handed over by the volunteers are already in active use.

Deputy Mayor Volodymyr Koval and head of the operating department Volodymyr Kurchaba thanked Andriy Dyachenko and the volunteers from Ireland for their help to the hospital, which, by the way, is not the first time the Ukrainian diaspora has provided.
