The story of Tatiana from Lviv, who left her home twice because of the war and survived a rocket fire at the train station

Історія жінки, яка двічі покидала дім через війну, та пережила ракетний обстріл на вокзалі

Tatyana left her own home twice because of the invasion of Russia. First, her family left Mariupol in early 2015. Then Kharkiv Oblast became their new home.

But already in April 2022, due to a new full-scale Russian offensive, the family evacuated from Kharkiv to Lviv.

Tatiana has five children. Three are adults, a girl and a boy, aged 13 and 14, and two grandchildren, aged 4 and 5.

“Rockets flew past the house. It was still tolerable. Near us is the city of Lozova, as well as Izyum. We hid, then decided to leave. We came under rocket fire at the station. We were lucky, because we were standing on the left, and the rockets fell on the right, the station took the hit. We drove for 48 hours,” Tatyana recalls.

From Lviv, the family went to Poland. Even later they returned and lived in a modular town. Currently, Tetiana, her minor children and her eldest daughter live in a shelter in Hrybovichi with their two children. They moved there in December 2022. Here, says Tatiana, there are better conditions and fewer people.

“We were well received in Hrybovichi when we first settled here, people brought us vegetables, food and spins. I am grateful to them. Also, my children go to school here, and my grandchildren go to kindergarten,” says Tetyana.

Now the family is trying to build their life in the conditions that have developed. Tatyana says that she dreams of returning to her work and to her hometown, but only when Ukraine wins and the city is free.
