Starting today, buses will be able to run through the updated checkpoint “Krakowec – Korchova”.

Yesterday, the updated border crossing point “Krakowec – Korchova” was opened within the framework of the “Open Border” project. A new bus terminal for crossing the border by buses has opened here

The Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Oleksandr Kubrakov noted that this terminal is designed to handle an average of 30 buses per day.

“This bus terminal is opening tonight. This “Open Border” project was launched as part of the agreements between the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi and the President of Poland Andrzej Duda. Then there were government consultations and today we have the results. I would like to thank all departments: colleagues from the Ministry, border and customs services, representatives of the Lviv OVA and Polish colleagues for their cooperation,” said Oleksandr Kubrakov.

The head of the Office of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Poland, Michal Dworczyk, emphasized that they will work together on the development of other checkpoints, in particular, Nyzhankovychy – Malchovychy.

“Thank you to all the services to increase the functionality of this checkpoint. Today, in the conditions that we are in, economic development is very important. Mr. Prime Minister Moravetskyi made efforts to open the next crossing point “Nyzhankovychy – Malkhovychy” already next year. Although earlier it was planned in 2025. I am convinced that the possibility of opening the mentioned crossing point will be as effective as in the case of the Kraków–Korchów extension,” said the head of the Office of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Poland, Michal Dvorczyk.

The head of the border control department, Yuriy Lysyuk, noted that the bus terminal will allow the registration of all buses that will move through this checkpoint to Poland and further to Europe. It is modern and convenient for travelers and staff at any time of the year. The largest number of approved regular bus routes pass through the “Krakowec-Korchova” checkpoint. The restoration of bus services will relieve the burden on other checkpoints and minimize queues for passengers crossing the border. In the absence of air traffic, quick and comfortable crossing of checkpoints by citizens is an important component of the “Open Border” project.

We will remind you that work on increasing the throughput directly at the “Krakowec – Korchova” point started in June. They have already increased the number of lanes for trucks from 4 to 10, created additional pavilions for customs and passport control. As a result, only in the first month of operation, the average daily number of trucks that left Ukraine increased by 51%.
