In November, 37 babies were born in Drohobych

Young families supported with care packages and first embroidered shirts for their children

Drohobych is one of the first cities in Ukraine to offer care packages and embroidered shirts to women in labour.

In November, 37 babies were born in the maternity ward of Drohobych City Hospital No. 1. Among them: 23 boys and 14 girls. Among the newborns, four are IDPs, including those from Kherson, Kherson region, Torts and Bakhmut district.

Once a week, Drohobych Mayor Taras Kuchma and Oleksandra Pashko, head of the Department of Family and Youth of the City Council, visit the city’s medical facility to congratulate the women on the joyful event in their lives. They are bringing support packages to the maternity ward, which contain basic necessities: sweets, toys for kids, first clothes for newborns, diapers, etc. And for the babies from the Drohobych community, they bring their first embroidered shirts.

During such visits, the mayor not only hands out support packages to women in labour, but also monitors the state of affairs in the medical facility and the level of medical services, communicates with medical staff and young mothers.

Women who are not found in the city’s maternity hospital are handed the appropriate coupons to receive the packages in room 210 of the Drohobych City Council (Family and Youth Department).

It should be noted that in November, one of the postpartum wards in the city’s maternity unit was completely renovated. The room is of a modern type, with the necessary furniture and appliances for a comfortable stay for the mother, child and relatives of the woman in labour. The hospital administration plans to upgrade other wards in the maternity unit in this way.

We would like to add that in Drohobych, it was decided to form maternity care packages from the first days of the full-scale invasion of the occupiers to support young families in this way. The packages are delivered to both local and IDP women.
