Yesterday, on 11 July, at 17:00, rescuers received a report of a fire in an open area in the village of Kupychvola, Chervonohrad district.
As it turned out at the scene, a man born in 1954 was burning garbage and lost consciousness as a result of the uncontrolled spread of the fire.
Neighbours noticed the smoke and fire and immediately came to the rescue. They found an unconscious man and quickly pulled him to a safe distance from the flames. They immediately called medics and rescuers. People began to extinguish the fire on their own, using improvised means, and managed to localise the fire before the emergency services arrived.
The victim was hospitalised at St Luke’s Hospital in Lviv with second-degree burns to his legs.
Rescuers once again remind of the dangers of burning garbage and dry vegetation. The fire can easily get out of control, spreading over large areas and causing significant damage not only to nature, but also to human health and life.
Avoid burning dead wood and garbage, use alternative methods of disposal and always be aware of the possible tragic consequences.
